Frites Modern - 6 Met & Veel, Vet, Goor En Duur


Frites Modern were a punk band from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, formed in 1982 and disbanded in 1985.
The band was formed as Duphar in late 1981. In February 1982 Duphar changed the name into Frites Modern, after a fries stand along a Belgian motorway, which had a sign saying "Friterie Moderne" on it.
Frites Modern sang in Dutch, which was not exactly the usual thing Dutch punk bands would do at the time. Musically the band were different as well: hardcore and Oi! were the trends of the day, but they sounded more like Buzzcocks and The Jam.

The Mets - Klik, Nie Wieder, Victims Of The State & Live


The Mets were a punk band from Delfzijl, The Netherlands, formed in 1979.
Originally the bandname has no meaning. Years later it stands for The Most Exciting Terror System.
The band split up in 1986.

Gerlof Timmer – vocals, bass (1979-1984), guitar (1984-1986)
Willem Hoekstra – drums (1982-1986)

"Klik" is a 12" EP by The Mets, released in 1982 on Sabotage Records.

"Nie Wieder" is a split cassette by The Mets and Awful Noise, released in 1983 on Sabotage Records.

Awful Noise were a punk band from Delfzijl, The Netherlands, formed in 1981 during a schoolparty.
After Reindert got replaced by Onno, the Nie Wieder split cassette with The Mets was recorded on 28 December 1982 and released in 1983.
The band split up in 1984.

Ultra Kort were a punk band from Delfzijl, The Netherlands, formed in 1983.
The band were the support act for The Mets. John was the manager and Auko the driver for The Mets.
Ultra Kort split up in 1988.
