Stinky Toys - Stinky Toys & Stinky Toys
Stinky Toys were a French punk band from Paris, formed in 1976.
In 1976 the band took part in the 100 Club Punk Special (sometimes referred to as the 100 Club Punk Festival).
The 100 Club Punk Special was a two-day event held at the 100 Club venue in Oxford Street, London on 20 and 21 September 1976.
Stinky Toys shared the stage with Subway Sect, Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Chris Spedding & the Vibrators, The Damned and Buzzcocks.
Their 100 Club performance was met with mixed reviews. The band had been praised for their aesthetics, but their music performance was questioned. Elli Medeiros famously stormed of stage as a result of the crowd’s indifference to their musical creations. Despite this Stinky Toys were signed by Polydor in 1977, originally to an international deal.
The band first released a vinyl single in 1977 with "Boozy Creed" on the A-side with "Driver Blues" on the B-side. The single was met with mixed reviews, especially in the United Kingdom. These reviews convinced Polydor to abandon the release of Stinky Toys debut album outside France.
The band split up in 1979.
