The Raincoats - The Raincoats, Odyshape, The Kitchen Tapes & Moving


The Raincoats are a British punk band. Ana da Silva and Gina Birch formed the band in 1977 while they were students at Hornsey College Of Art in London. They were inspired after they saw The Slits perform live earlier that year.


The Raincoats signed to the label Rough Trade and the band released three albums.
The band recorded Moving in 1984. Tired of constant touring and "pulling in different musical directions", the band members began work on solo projects shortly after the album's release. The band split up in 1984. The Raincoats reformed in 1994 due to renewed interest in the band.

"The Raincoats" is the debut studio album by The Raincoats, released in 1979 on Rough Trade. The album was reissued in 2009 on We Three with one bonus track (track 1).

"The Kitchen Tapes" is a cassette by The Raincoats, released in 1983 on ROIR. The cassette was digitally remastered for CD and reissued in 1998 on ROIR.
The Kitchen Tapes were recorded live at The Kitchen For The Performing Arts, New York City, 12 December 1982.

"Moving" is the third studio album by The Raincoats, released in 1984 on Rough Trade. The album was reissued in 1993 on One Little Indian, David Geffen Company and Rough Trade with the addition of the 7" version of "No One's Little Girl". The tracks Dreaming Of The Past, Honey Mad Woman and Avidoso are not issued on the 1993 CD release.

Bad Manners - The Albums 1980-85


Bad Manners are a British ska band, formed in 1976 while most of the members were together at Woodberry Down Comprehensive School, near Manor House, North London. The band played their first ever gig in January 1978.
After becoming popular in their native London, Bad Manners signed a recording contract with Magnet in 1980. Bad Manners left Magnet in 1983 and joined Telstar releasing a compilation album, "The Height Of Bad Manners".

Bad Manners then went on to sign a contract with Portrait in the United States and "Mental Notes" was released in 1985. For two years the band toured continuously all over the world, but decided to disband in 1987 for a brief spell after their deal with Portrait ended.
During 1988, the reformed Bad Manners line-up started to play a number of shows at universities and at scooter rallies. Bad Manners is still touring the United Kingdom.
